Elite Democracy

Out of the three models Participatory, Pluralist, and elite the founders intended to run an elite democracy.  An elite democracy consists of wealthy powerful people. There are a two reasons why.  Through Brutus #1 and political cartoons that portray democracy.

Brutus #1 states that "...when the people once part with power, they can seldom or never resume it again but by force."  This means that when people give up power, they can almost never gain it back unless by force or stronger powers.  If people loose power and can find a way to get it back using stronger powers then the founders chose an elite democracy.  The people in the elite democracy had many resources and influenced people which is what gave them more power than anyone else.  They were also much more educated than others.  This democracy can care less about what the peoples opinions are because they are going to do anything how they want it done.

In the political cartoons there are examples of elite democracy.  For one of the images a society is being carried by money and destroying homes, buildings, and hurting people.  Money is the base of the society and is plowing through everything.  In this case, money is controlling everything including the people.  No one can stop it from destroying because it has too much power.  This can be dangerous for the people since they have no say and money can take over quickly.

Overall, the founders wanted an elite democracy for America which was shown through Brutus #1 and political cartoons.
