Our founding fathers could have picked any type of government to rule us but they were aiming for one specific type. The founding fathers wanted a puralist democracy when coming up with the constitution because it represented the most people while still having smart people handle difficult tasks the government puts fowards. The way the United States government works portrays a puralist democracy in many ways.
James Madison wrote that if you, “Extend the sphere,” and , “take in a greater variety or parties,” that it would be,” Less probable that a majority of the whole will have a common motive to invade the rights or other citizens.” He is saying that when more people are in the country, like the United States, there will be more factions to battle with eachother. This corresponds directly with puralist democracy. It also disproves an elite democracy because if a majority took over they would be the elite class controlling government and making decisions for themselves. Also in a political cartoon, you can see the different parties of people making differences.

The people are making decisions by protesting and sticking up to the nra while the nra is fighting back as well. These two groups are representing the groups from a puralist democracy and working against eachother to hopefully come to a compromise.
As you can see from all the evidence the United States was meant to be a puralist democracy. Also it’s common sense an elite democracy is what the people just got away from with Britain and a participatory democracy is like the articles of confederation so it would make sense if they wanted to stick away from a government like one of those
