Cohen and Trumps messy breakup:
“ I’m not going to be a punching bag anymore”

Micheal Cohen, Trumps longtime lawyer, who used to say how he would take a bullet for Trump has now made it clear in an interview that he would not hesitate cooperate with prosecutors even if it hurt the president. He also states, “ To be crystal clear, my wife, my daughter, and my son and this country have my first loyalty.” This publicly put some distance between him and his longterm client, Trump.
Cohen became the prime focus in an investigation in the Southern District of New York. Although he has not been charged for anything yet, his home was invaded for proof on whether he violated campaign-finance laws or commited bank fraud, wire fraud, illegal lobbying or other crimes. The FBI found over four million documents in Cohens home, Trump then tweeted in rage that,” attorney-client privilege is dead!”
Yet when reviewing the documents to decide what to claim as privilege, the FBI only selected 12,000 of the four million which is very low percentage for a lawyer. Later in June, Cohen hired Guy Petrillo as his lawyer since he would be breaking up with his legal team, experts say that Petrillo is who a person would chose for breaking relations with prosecutors. Cohen then criticized Trumps family separations at the U.S.-Mexico border in a resignation letter to the Republican National Committee. CNN even suggested that Cohen might be open to cooperating with the government and give information on Trump.
Trump then distanced himself and said how the investigation had to do with Cohens business and not his, and claims he is not worried about Cohen giving information on him to the government because he has done nothing wrong. Cohens response to this was, “ I am not a villian of this story, and I will not allow others to try and depict me that way.”
Cohen is now fighting as the investigation continues although he makes it clear that he has nothing but respect for the FBI, and as for Trump, Cohen refuses to talk to anyone about him and has yet to make any secrets about Trump public to respect his privacy.
