How Record Heat Wreaked Havoc on Four Continents
By Somini Sengupta, Tiffany May and Zia ur-Rehman
Climate change is becoming a serious threat day by day. Lately, many countries have had record high temperatures. Global green house gases are responsible for these intense heat waves. The climate in Oslo has evolved so much that a barbecue can turn into a disaster if one spark touches the grass. Japan suffered from triple-digit temperatures that resulted in 86 deaths.
I chose this article because unlike other conflicts going on today, this issue has consequences globally. Also it is important to recognize climate change, because many people deny its existence even though there is data and statistics to back it up.
Discussion questions:
1. How do you think climate change will affect the productivity of different countries?
2. What are some ways to stop climate change before it gets out of control?
3. Do you believe climate change is real or fake? Explain.
4. Should the U.S. Government have a role in preventing climate change, considering they are a world power?
