Gun Homicides

https://www.cnn.com/2018/07/26/health/common-methods-of-homicide-cdc/index.html

I chose this article because the rise in gun violence has been heavily debated recently, and there really is no clear answer on how to solve it. It's an interesting issue because the solution differs between states, communities, race, and many other different factors, you have to look at every side.

1. Should people be allowed to carry loaded and concealed guns if they have the proper permits?
2. In places such as Venezuela, did the ban on guns influence the rise of crime? Would this rise have happened anyways? If so, would it rise faster or slower than it is currently?
3.Would the ban of guns have a negative, or positive effect on crime rates in the US?

  1. You need to do more than just link your current event to an article and provide discussion questions. A brief analysis and summary should be provided and you should use media to help illustrate your topic. Basically, you need to make your current event post look like mine. Please try to put more effort into your next post.

  2. I think, in this whole gun epidemic, people should be able to carry loaded concealed guns if theyhave the proper permits. However in differnt situations, people with mental issues can easily get ahold of this oppertunity making me second think my opinion. i think that the ban of guns would have little to no effect on the crime rates in the U.S. if people want to kill, they will, banning guns will not solve the seriousness the us is dealing with. mental health has a lot more to do with it then anything. if people who want to kill with guns, get guns taken away from then, they will just move to the next thing to kill with. the problem we are faceing in the us is a lot bigger then a piece of metal with bullets in it.

  3. Yes, people should be allowed to carry concealed guns if they have the proper permits. But, there should be limits on people who have faced charges and gone to jail or people with certain mental disorders and such. Before the proper permits are given, people should have to go through a series of tests to see if they are mentally stable to carry a gun and if the person has faced charges and was in jail, the shouldn't be given the permits to carry a gun. In places like Venezuela, the ban on guns might have influenced crime rate going up. Criminals could be showing that if they don't have guns, they still have ways of causing harm or it could just be people protesting or something like that. If guns weren't banned, crime rate probably would've still eventually gone up, but it would have been much slower. I think if the US were to place a ban on guns, crime rates might go up. People would protest against this ban and some would also go about acquiring guns illegally. Guns probably shouldn't be completely banned, but there should be more restrictions placed around getting the proper permits to carry one.

  4. I believe citizens have the right to conceal carry weapons, if they have the proper permits, but only some certain ones loaded at all times, such as Heizer Defense DoubleTap,a palm sized pistol firing only two bullets before needing a reload. other weapons, such as a colt 1911 that use a magazine, I believe, should be unloaded until needed. The gun ban in Venezuela did influence the rise of crime, and with citizens allowed to privately own firearms, the rise in crime would not have increased so fast in such little time. There are no positives to a complete gun ban in the U.S., guns can be bought illegally, built , and now 3D printed. Negatives to a complete gun ban include no self defense past knives, which are regulated to be no more than 4 inches long when carried on the body. Murder with guns would rise, as any smart criminal knows only to kill with an illegal gun, which would be the only ones left, leaving citizens vulnerable to attack.
