Accused of Harassment, and Seeking Redemption at the Ballot Box

"In Arizona, the list of women accusing former State Representative Don Shooter of sexual harassment includes a Republican colleague, a Democratic legislator, at least two lobbyists, a newspaper intern and the former publisher of The Arizona Republic" (Turkewitz). Shooter apologized for what he has said and believes that people should accept that. Many voters did not feel as though an apology was enough and that Shooter should not be allowed to run for office. Many are saying that politics have been put above women safety and that anyone who has sexually harassed someone or have said racial slurs are not fit for office.

discussion questions:

1. Do you believe that Shooter apology was enough? Why?

2. Should people who have said inhumane things in the past have a chance to be in office

  1. Mia,
You need to provide more analysis of the topic you chose to write about. This means more than quoting the article and writing some general discussion questions afterward. What do you think about this topic?
