A debate has been discussed about the removal of President Donald Trumps star. The reason for this debate was due to the recent vandalism of President Trump's star by a city local, Austin Mikel Clay. Although the 24-year old did not admit to a motive behind the vandalism, according to Los Angeles police, the investigation is still ongoing. Following this unfortunate event, the City Council of West Hollywood, California wants Trump's star to be removed on the Hollywood walk of Fame. On August 6th the council voted unanimously on a plan to remove the star. The city has no control over the Hollywood walk of Fame and the council gets to decide on what happens to the star. The council had a meeting about his star and several people spoke up about the situation saying the he is not living up to his duty as a President, or he is a great President and he helped the economy from what it was before. But, the council has its reasons to remove the star because in an interview from 2005 he was bragging about how he could sexually assault women and get away with it because he is a celebrity. However, Bill Cosby and Kevin Spacey and others were accused of the same behavior and their stars still remain there on the Hollywood walk of Fame.You don't see their stars getting vandalized or destroyed of what they have done in their past, but Trump is getting is star taken away due to some of his mistakes he has made in the past. As a result, President Donald Trump should not get his star removed because not only did he sexually assault women, but 2 other people did as well and that would not be fair to him since he is the President of the United States.
I choose to write about this topic because it was a big debate on what the city council should do to Trump's star. I found it intriguing on what other people though about this situation while I was researching this topic.

Carmela, You bring up a good point about the two other men that have also been proven to have sexually assaulted women, but I don't agree with you. I think the other two men should also have their star removed. They barely faced consequences to their actions which sends a message to men in power that it is okay to do whatever you want. All abuse or harassment should have swift immediate consequences, such as the removal of a Hollywood star. And as it is said by the New York Times Trump has done much more than the sexual harassment of women, "including the now-reversed decision of separating children and parents under a “zero-tolerance” policy on border enforcement" Trumps Hollywood star should be removed.
ReplyDeleteDonald trumps star should not be removed. Unlike those other two men Trump only got accused of it he was never found guilty and everyone is innocent until proven guilty. I do not believe he sexually assaulted anyone either because nobody reported anything until he ran for president. Also I don’t think the people of just California should have a say on if it gets removed or not because the stars are a tourist attraction from all over and it wouldn’t be fair for the people who support trump. Especially since California is a majority democratic state and anti trump. And the vandalizer should get charged with vandalism because he vandalized the trump star which is illegal.
