Free speech problem

A popular news company info wars has been banned from many social media platforms because of its so called “hate speech”. Alex Jones is arguing back saying that he hs the freedom to say whatever he wants as it is his first amendment. However, the platforms are private and have their own rules and whether you agree with it or not, the company’s have the right to do that. I personally don’t think that he should have been banned because in my opinion he wasn’t doing anything wrong. I do not know what the social media platforms rules were, but they claimed he was preaching hate speech yet not quoting anything he said that may have been hate speech. Many people worry that this might spread and grow limiting free speech as a whole. They worry when will it stop and what are the guidelines that are supposed to be followed.
I chose this event because it’s not the first time this has happened and it’s such a hard topic to debate about. It happens all the time in communist countries and I worry that we slide deeper and deeper into a more government run-limited freedom country every day by taking for granted the rights and freedom we have.

Do you think Infowars should have been censored or were they wrongly banned?

If other companies  get censored in platforms do you think that the major social media platforms could feel in control and run the internet like a dictatorship?

Should platforms become more strict? If so what should be allowed and what shouldn’t?

  1. Jack,
I have a couple of issues with your post:
First, it doesn't follow any of the formatting of a current event post (they are supposed to look like mine).
Second, you provide no source materials for your post - like a legitimate news article that you base your opinion on.
Third, your post is entirely based on your opinion rather than presenting the issue and the multiple opnions that surround it.
Forth, InfoWars is not a news site. The information presented on it by Alex Jones and his contributors is opinion based and centers on conspiracy theories that have little validity or factual support.
Finally, while I value your opinion, you are not an expert on this issue, so more sourcing and research is needed when presenting issues like this one.
